Assault case SJB MP Dilip Wedaarachchi’s son, three others arrested

• Suspects released after settlement

Four persons including the son of Samagi Jana Balawegaya Hambantota District Parliamentarian Dilip Wedaarachchi have been arrested for having assaulted a couple following an argument over an accident in Maharagama, police said.  

When the suspect was driving along the High Level Road in Maharagama, his car collided with another car on Thursday early in the morning.  

It was reported that the suspects had allegedly threatened and assaulted the couple inside the car that was involved in the accident.  

The MP’s son and another were arrested soon after the incident and another two were arrested later following a complaint lodged by the victims.  

However, the suspects were released on police bail after both the parties have agreed for an amicable settlement.
