FitsAir, a local company, will operate flights between Jaffna and Chennai at the end of this month, an official said yesterday.
Vice Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services Ltd. Priyantha Kariyapperuma told Daily Mirror the airline carried out a test flight last Friday with officials of the Civil Aviation Authority on board to Chennai and he said it was a success.
“The airline will get the licence to operate flights from Jaffna to Chennai soon and will operate flights three times a week,” he said. He said the airline would deploy its ATR 72 aircraft.
The government inaugurated the Jaffna International Airport recently. Currently, Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India operates three flights a week.
