The SLFP is suffering for what they did to the UNP during the coalition government of 2015, a UNP MP said today.
UNP MP S. M. Marikkar told a press conference today that the SLFP was at the mercy of SLPP for what it did to the UNP during the coalition government.
“SLFP was given all good ministries. They employed their supporters in the institutions that came under their ministries while UNPers did not get a single employment opportunity in some state institutions. The SLFP is therefore suffering retribution today,” he remarked.
Mr. Marikkar predicted that the SLFP will be ultimately side-lined by the SLPP at the next general elections. “SLFP will be allocated very few slots after the majority of slots are allocated among the SLPP and those who are close to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa,” Mr. Marikkar said.
He also said that the UNP has decided to oppose the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement, bowing down to the will of the majority of Sri Lankan people who had given a mandate to refrain from signing the agreement. (Yohan Perera)
