The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that the measures Sri Lanka has taken to combat the COVID-19 is in line with the eight pillars outlined in WHO’s country preparedness and response plan.
WHO Spokesperson, Sahani Chandraratna told Daily Mirror that the WHO is working closely with the Health Ministry to ensure Sri Lanka’s preparedness and response measures are sufficient during the time of an outbreak.
The eight pillars outlined by the WHO include 'country level coordination, planning and monitoring', 'infection prevention and control' and 'surveillance, rapid response teams and case investigations'.
It also includes monitoring all points of entry.
Sri Lanka presently has 86 confirmed COVID-19 patients while over 200 are under observation. Over 11,000 are under quarantine across the country. (Jamila Husain)
