There will be major changes in the UNP next Thursday when the party’s parliamentary group meets to discuss its future, MP Sujeewa Senasinghe told the media today.
He said this after the Dharama sermon held at the Opposition Leader’s office and pointed out that party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had agreed to carry out the changes in the party.
“We will convert the party into an institution which will work towards the betterment of the people,” the MP said. “UNP will be handled by an able team of officials who will work for a better future for the country.”
Meanwhile, another UNP MP who did not wish to be named said the party constitution would be changed to democratise the party further. MP Eran Wickramaratne is reported to have proposed that the party’s constitution should be changed so as to democratise it further in line with the evolving world. (Yohan Perera)

By democratising the party able people will have a equal chance to lead the party rather than family connections. There should be provision to remove from the leadership by majority.

RW must stop talking crap/. UNP is not his personal inheritance. A new leader for the party is an absolute necessity. It does not matter who would be the next leader of the UNP as long as RW is OUT as he is not a leader but a loser and only good as a manipulator of dirty tricks RW is a conniving hyena and cannot be trusted at all, at all, and at all.
