What an unprofessional statement coming from a military forces spokesman!
Tilak Ratnasekera Sunday, 28 June 2015 04:37 AM
Hi ReadersI doubt whether the Brigadier/Mil spokesman has commanded men in battle or for that matter knows the basic difference between trying the Staff Sgt under Military Law and Civil Law.As a retired Army Officer who admires the SL Army of today enormously I do not think that justice has prevailed in this case.As much as we admire the deeds of the LRRP that helped us win the war, how many of the lawyers and judges or prosecutors had an insight to the working of the LRRP. LTTE Cadres who did crimes during the War is released, rehabilitated and provide with jobs or vocations and Soldiers are imprisoned. Is that reasonable ? Common amnesty should be applied to everyone.

What about the cold blooded killings done by LTTE of Tamil civilians who were held as hostages by LTTE.
Sikuru Saturday, 27 June 2015 06:32 PM
Most of them were done by LTTE carders under Karuna, so why is MR protecting him?
Sana Saturday, 27 June 2015 05:14 PM
What nonsense. Our brave army guys are being sentenced to death without proper evidence just to show sympathy towards the LTTE who massacred public in thousands. We badly need Mahinda Rajapakse back in power to save this country from this disaster.
Rabok Saturday, 27 June 2015 01:49 PM
Save this country from traitors - we do not consider our soldiers as criminals

Mr. Jayasekera your colours are showing this is not your business

Who is going to pass the death sentence on the LTTE soldiers who killed and maimed Sri Lankan soldiers policemen and civilians during the 30 year ethnic war ?
karsha Saturday, 27 June 2015 10:23 AM
A judgement is given on the evidence .not on principals or as required by the executive or the public.
Prem Nath Saturday, 27 June 2015 10:23 AM
Sure this guy is a scape goat or a terminally ill person being sentenced to death just to show the UN that positive action is being taken.
PoPo Saturday, 27 June 2015 10:14 AM
Just the tip of the iceberg. Just imagine how it would have been in the last phase of the war. Get all who gave commands .

This is a drama.. The case involved 8 soldiers but one was convicted, all the others were released.. And death sentence is not in practice in SL.. we can see him released in next Avurudu time for good behavior.. This is the state of SL judiciary....

'According to the evidence of the District Medical Officer, their throats had been slashed. The dead included three teenagers and a five-year-old child.' This brave soldier who cut the throat of a 5 old child is pardoned!!! Excellent Justice system.
