Not in the moustache: Rajitha

29 April 2015 12:58 pm - 56     - {{hitsCtrl.values.hits}}

A A A
Minister Rajitha Senaratne today commended President Maithripala Sirisena’s personality and said a person’s personality was in his or her heart and mind and not in a moustache.

“Some said President Sirisena had no personality because of his slim figure. Most of the great achievers including Lenin and Ho Chi Min were slim figures.  Our President has created a social revolution following the footsteps of former Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike,” he said.

He said that several attempts had been made to sabotage the 19th Amendment and in fact former presidents J.R. Jayewardene and Mahinda Rajapaksa were defeated with its enactment. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

May I mention few leaders who grew moustache. Hitler, Josef Stalin, Pinochet, Makos, Bokasa, saddam hussaine, Ceucescu and ....... You may now get my point.

President Sirisena will go down in history as the one who liberated the country from dictatorship and transformed into a five star democratic country. All credit to him and he deserves a second term unlike MR who won the war but did not bring peace and later made a haven for rogues and plunderers of nations wealth. via DM Android App

Mathew George Thursday, 30 April 2015 08:48 AM

The comment made by on Mr Sujith has made a mistake by calling Mahendra Rajapakse which should be corrected as Mahinda. Mr President MS you are a great person. Body size is not important. It is the loving heart matters and you have that. We respect you and pray that the Almighty God will walk with you always. You have lot to do for the people of our beloved Country. God will guide you

Its only in Sri Lanka that men with barrel bodies and big stomachs are considered macho and with personality. Just think of all those leaders in UK, USA, China and Japan. They are all slim and trim and none of them have a mustache either. (As against Saddam, Hitler and Bin Ladan).

    Push Wednesday, 29 April 2015 10:55 PM

President Maithripala Sirisena has character, nature, disposition, temperament and all the rest that is needed to make our country a better place. If he is slim or fat or something else is immaterial.

    Anura Thursday, 30 April 2015 02:17 PM

Rajitha, do not act taking the powers of President Maithreepala Sirisena. Some times your statements are not going to help any one but to create a bigger image for yourself.

Especially, when that moustache is dyed black to hide the white streaks. Everything was artificial about the man and it was his hangers-on who bloated his personality unnecessarily for their own benefit.

    Nethera Thursday, 30 April 2015 10:33 AM

We thank you very much Mr.President ,please request our Ministers to get in to the field and work for the upliftment of the poor masses, request for a monthly report about their achivement in their electrate. Also check how the poor public is benifitted.

President Maithripala Sirisena in time to come will be remembered as an honest Statesman. Whereas Mahinda Rajapakse will be dumped by the wayside.

May I humbly add Steve Jobs who was also thin and no moustache.

    firoza Thursday, 30 April 2015 04:50 PM

It is still early to judge the president and let us give him some time and space to adjust. Having said that he has shown remarkable statesmanship in all his actions so far. His face reflects his mind too. We all Sri Lankans will benefit on his efforts and actions. We are having positive thoughts on the future and wish him strength and courage for success.

Hiran Gunawardena Wednesday, 29 April 2015 07:33 PM

These big mouths just talk no work. If look at what happening in SL all the development work gone to wild no job creation at. all Tea and Rubber prices collapsed there is no inward investment at all. Government is manipulating media to fool people. This is the true sorry state of the country. via DM Android App

dont boast too much , talk about who you are , MR both are gentlements but you

    sunil Thursday, 30 April 2015 04:57 PM

Not only you, MS praised MR like he was god almighty. Well admit it that you as well as MS have no personality. But show with deeds. then you do not need personality. You could not even get the fishery ban reversed. MS has to show more than getting 19 passed. Because we know that you can get anything passed by this parliament. This parliament still has the same who voted for all other amendments. So what is the big deal here.develop the country. stop housemaids going. then say you achieved something.

What is required to become a great leader is a big heart not a big chest. No doubt that our president has a big heart
