Three young men had been arrested at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport by the CID while attempting to illegally take flight to the UK on forged visa, airport officials said.

The suspects were 21, 25, and 32 years of age and residents of the Maullaithivu area, sources said.

The Police said that the CID had checked the three passengers on information that a group of former LTTE cadres were attempting to leave the country illegally.

Investigations revealed that two of the suspects were rehabilitated LTTE carders who depended on fishery after rehabilitation.

They were to be produced before Negombo Magistrate. (Deepa Adikari)
