Sujeewa Liyanage and Janitha Nimesh cracked half tons to put Moratu MV on top on day one of their 58th Battle of the Gold’s big match against Sri Sumangala Panadura played at De Zoys Stadium. The duo was unfortunate to miss out on their tons with both being dismissed in the nervous 90’s. Sujeewa missed his ton by one run and Janitha by four runs. The knocks helped Moratu MV amass a massive score of 319 for 9 before declaring.
Moratu MV is now sitting pretty and in line to notch up an early outright victory as they have the Sumangalians struggling for survival having being bundled out for 81 and made to follow on with a deficit of 239 runs were three for no loss. Sumangalians need a further 236 runs to avoid a certain defeat when play resumes today morning.
