In the wake of the latest abduction and murder of a Colombo businessman, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will summon senior police officers to Temple Trees next week to brief them on steps to be taken to curb crimes and drug trafficking.
According to informed sources the Prime Minister has told this to several ministers including Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayake yesterday morning.
He had also told Minister Ratnayake and other ministers that there was no point marking police day if the police were unable to nab those who commit crimes. “ The prime responsibility of the police is to look after the security of the people. There is no point in holding a police day if this cannot be executed in aproper manner," he had told the ministers.(Yohan Perera)

In similar vein why not bring to book all those who have committed crimes during the past 10 years? Why is the administration dragging its feet on that?

If the past murders are solved quickly and efficiently punishing the actual culprits there will no new murders. When the Police is sloppy as it is now, how can they discourage new crimes? Punish the murderers of Eknaligoda, Lassantha, Thajudeen, Raviraj, Pararajasingham and then you will see a change.

Capital punishment is existing as per the constitution. But not applied, no execution is made. I am all against on capital punishment. There's no data/ evidence to show capital punishment has a positive correlation to crime reduction.

Marine Drive need to be patrol particularly at nights because this is a good way to escape.Kothalawala Garden is a stone's throw distance to Bambalapitya Police Station. The murderer escaped though.

Crime is constantly increasing these days - every day indecent now affecting both nationals and internationals. Surely will affect tourism which is booming now. Why authorities are waiting?

Dear PM, The police and the law enforcement will have to climb a steep hill to restore credibility and efficiency. Under, MR as you know he made them the biggest criminals as opposed to protecting people..Every high profile murder, abduction, assaults, white van crimes are now linked to law enforcement. IGP's were in the pockets of drug lords!!!!
