A protest staged by a group of individuals led by Jaffna District Parliamentarian S.Gajendran near the archaeological site in front of the Trincomalee public playground against a programme to commemorate the 270th anniversary of the higher ordination ceremony was dispersed by the police and the STF (Special Task Force).

Police had taken this step to prevent a possible clash and disturbance to peace when a group of Buddhist monks of Trincomalee District Sasanarakshka Balamandala was proceeding to the venue of the protest to drive away the protesters.

The commemoration programme which was to be held in the playground with the participation of 50 Siamese Buddhist monks had to be suspended due to the protest staged by Tamil politicians.

The Buddhist monks, Dhamma school teachers and the residents of the area who held a counter-protest in Trincomalee town were marching to the venue of the protest of Tamil politicians when the police and the STF intervened and removed them from the scene to prevent any possible clash between the two parties. No clashes. All must unite as Sri Lankans. People now reject divisions perpetrated by MR and Clang.

Very peaceful Buddhist Monks disturbed by some Tamil protestors! When people are jobless and fed by others, they always create problems to prove their own existence!

Bo tree is considered sacred and worshiped by Hindus who associate its bottom, middle and the top parts of the representations of Brahmma, Vishnu and Sivan respectively. According to Vedhas Lord Shiva’s preferred tree for meditation or thiyanam in Tamil is the Bo tree; hence it was the chosen tree for the Hindu Prince Siddhartha to meditate. Blinded by their ignorance these so called Buddhist monks never fail to display their abject racist hatred towards Hindu Tamils in the name of Buddhism.

This had nothing to do wit a Bo Tree. It was the commemoration of the introduction of the Siamese sect of Buddhism

Now you see who are creating ethnic and religious divisions. None but the racist Tamil politicians. They are against holding a Buddhist religious event in the Tamil predominant areas. What if the Buddhists react and prevent Hindus having their Veil festival in Buddhist predominant areas. Though the majority are peace loving many Northern Tamil politicians are full of racial hatred, which is the main cause for ethnic related violence.

There is an attempt by extremist Buddhists to disrupt, dismantle ancient places of worship of others in the North and East and forcibly Vihares, pansalas etc. by so called peaceful Sinhala monks, with ulterior motives.

So that #Siri is enlightened, if it was the commemoration of the introduction of Siamese Buddhism, should it not be held in Kandy of all places? Why right in the middle of Tamil populated area where a Bo tree has been fenced off to the chagrin of the locals, by the so-called archaeological department that shamelessly admitted to getting funds from the monks to engage in such activities.
