On the 18th of November 2022 at the Colombo Town Hall, renowned Sri Lankan couturier Indi Yapa Abeywardene unveiled her new label, Aarya by Indi. Speaking to Daily Mirror, Indi stated that her show was ‘an amalgamation of storytelling, textiles, and history. The Aarya collection embodies a sense of heritage and is heavily inspired by the ancient paintings and architecture of Sri Lanka.’

The Aarya collection featured an array of hand-painted prints and powerful statement pieces; from bridal wear to ethnic wear, gowns and jumpsuits. Focusing on sustainability, the collection consisted of detachable pieces and silhouettes designed to be deconstructed and worn as separates, prolonging the lifespan of these garments.
