While stating that an investigation has been initiated by the CID over the alleged detention and questioning of a local employee of the Swiss embassy, Police Headquarters yesterday denied allegations claiming its involvement in the said incident.
In a statement, SSP Ruwan Gunasekara of the Police Media Division said that the police had sought further information from the Swiss Embassy and accordingly, the embassy had provided certain information yesterday with regard to the incident. It further said that two police teams, one from the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) and another from the CCTV division have been assigned to support the CID investigations.
The unidentified group that had abducted the female employee of the embassy had reportedly told her that they were from the CID but the police in its statement said that it was a ploy by the group to mislead the investigations.

Last four years not a single abduction, why the sudden transfers for the officials who were handling high profile cases and also the unidentified group was very particularly questioning her about the former Director of the CID who fled the country

I was hoping for a better governance by the Rajapakse clan that they are back in power with solid mandate from the people. Completely disappointed with this dastardly kidnapping by whoever. Sincerely hope the President put an end to this unnecessary and un-warranted practice for good. Also, CID should be told to stop harassing journalists and bloggers who supported Sajith.

I believe the CID more than the Swiss Embassy on this matter. Most likely it’s a false story to discredit the new president.
