Lotus Tower entry ticket fiasco: Chinese Embassy urges to buy a ticket to see with own eyes

The Chinese Embassy in Colombo today clarified reports related to the entry ticket of the Lotus Tower in Colombo which is being circulated on social media.

A ticket claiming to be that of the Lotus Tower is being circulated on social media with information on exemptions for Parliamentarians and Chinese Nationals.

Responding to the reports, the Embassy said that the circulating ticket was forged and responded stating to visit the tower tomorrow and buy a ticket to see it with one's own eyes.

The Embassy also shared an image of the original ticket of the Lotus Tower stating that it will be issued to the public tomorrow.

The first stage of the Lotus Tower will be declared open to the public on Thursday. September 15.

With the commencement of operations, tickets are available at the following prices: For locals, the normal pass will be Rs. 500, unlimited pass for the locals will be Rs. 2,000, and schoolchildren will be provided with the tour opportunity with the official permission of the principal of the respective school. I think the Govt. should remove the different ticket structures for 'Tourists' and 'Locals' across all places. This fare structure is so outdated. Simply just have 'Adults' and 'Children'. What does everyone else think?

Spot on! Anywhere in the world, the average price of a ticket is 5-20$ depending on the attraction. But will our local folk pay 2-7k to enter any place in SL (even if free food is offered) . Take the zoo! If a foreigner is charged 1.5$ for entry they will run away, cause that price you can't even enter a dump. So that's why there are two different prices. But when our folk go to other countries, they gladly pay any amount. So change our SL folk attitude, not ticket prices.

Any Asian who came to Europe and was charged say 5x or 10x the price than locals would be shouting this is racism ........and they would be right , this is why all people are charged the same regardless of nationality or race ....its the law in Europe but not in Asia it seems.

Foreigners should be charged in USD. The expenses of operations and maintenance of the tower should be less than the income otherwise there will be no profit only losses piling up /which means the situation becomes worse- then better to keep it closed

Discrimination against foreigners and innocent tourists who contribute to SL economy must stop. Everything is 10 times expensive for foreigners in SL while heavily corrupt politicians and public servants go unpunished for their steals. All these years everybody was under the impression that the Lotus Tower was a gift from China to the people of Sri Lanka to show their love and close relationship. Unfortunately it seems to be owned by the Chinese to charge an entrance fee some sort of business venture to make a fast buck and stamp their authority on the Government of Sri Lanka that nothing comes free.

There seems to be a systematic attempt in SL led most likely by Western Intelligence agencies to demonize China. And there seems to be a bunch of traitors within SL who are aiding and abating this. China is no saint. It has its own interests. But China has been a consistent friend of SL. The same cannot be said of the Western forces. We need the West too, in the international environment to survive. But we also need to know clearly who our friends and enemies are.

First even if profit is 3 billion per year(title and the revenue stated is not same) (source daily news) It would still take 14.3 years without including interest on the loan(118,000,000*364/3,000,000,000) So essentially it would not be profitable enough to cover the cost in 14 years not including interest the elevators being stuck on first use will definitely not help the profitability
