Cardinal, Bishops Conference hold same view on Easter Sunday attacks

The Sri Lanka Catholic Bishops' Conference and Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith hold the same view on the Easter Sunday bomb attacks and call for a local probe into it with the involvement of foreign observers.

This was revealed by a statement issued by the Church quoting the President of the Sri Lanka Catholic Bishops' Conference, Bishop Harold Anthony Perera.

“The Sri Lanka Catholic Bishops' Conference holds a unanimous view on the Easter Sunday bomb attacks and other issues. Therefore the Cardinal and the Bishops hold the same view that an impartial local probe could be conducted into the Easter Sunday bomb attacks with the presence of foreign observers. The President has made an effort to show that there is a division between Cardinal Ranjith and the Bishops' Conference,” Bishop Perera said in this statement.

The Bishop said the President did not meet either him or the Bishops’ Conference as he claimed during the interview he had with a German TV channel. However Bishop Perera did mention that the President met him a year ago to discuss various issues . I requested the President to release the complete report of the Presidential Commission, he said.
