Yuhansa and Asahi singles champions

Sri Lanka’s Yuhansa Peiris and Japan’s Asahi Yamazaki became girls and boys singles champions of the ITF Junior Circuit J30 Week 4 tennis tournament when they came out victorious in the two finals played at the SLTA tennis courts at Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.

Yuhansa won her match with ease by two sets to nil against Aaraa Aasaa Azmi of Maldives but Asahi was given a fright by his compatriot Kenshin Sato before coming out on top by two sets to one.

Meanwhile in the two doubles finals which was played concurrently saw the Russian pair of Polina Koralovac and Daria Lokotkova winning the girls title defeating Kimika Fukui (Japan) and Yawoon Lee (Korea) and in the boys category it was Jason Fu of Hong Kong and Yuxuan Li of China overcoming the Sri Lankan pair of Ganuka Fernando and Saha Kapilasena with both matches ending two sets to nil for the champions.

Singles:

Girls - Yuhansa Peiris (Sri Lanka) beat Aaraa Aasaa Azmi (Maldives) 2-0 (6/3, 6/3)

Boys – Asahi Yamazaki (Japan) beat Kenshin Sato (Japan) 2-1 (3/6, 6/3, 7/5)

Doubles:

Polina Koralovac and Daria Lokotkova (Russia) beat Kimika Fukui (Japan) and Yawoon Lee (Korea) 2-0 (6/0, 7/6)

Boys - Jason Fu (Hong Kong) and Yuxuan Li (China) beat Ganuka Fernando and Saha Kapilasena (Sri Lanka) 2-0 (6/2, 7/5)
