Wijetunge hits hundred with gold and silver

Veteran Sri Lankan Masters’ athlete Rajiva Wijetunge celebrated a remarkable milestone by competing in his 100th athletics meet at the Singapore Masters Athletics Track and Field Championships 2026, held at the Home of Athletics Stadium in Kallang on June 6 and 7.

Competing in the men’s 65-69 age category, Wijetunge won a gold medal in the Shot Put event and a silver medal in the Discus Throw.

A Masters Double International athlete, Wijetunge has been involved in athletics since 1972 and entered Masters’ competitions in 1999. Over the years, he has earned 34 international medals representing Sri Lanka in Masters’ athletics.

His latest achievement adds to an impressive record at the Singapore Masters Championships, where he has consistently secured medals over the past two decades.

The milestone reflects Wijetunge’s enduring commitment to athletics and his continued success on the international stage.
