Trinity heavily favoured over new entrants Lumbini

Defending league champions, Trinity College will open their Under-19 Schools Rugby League campaign when they take on Lumbini College at the Pallekele Stadium today.

The Trinitians will be eager to make a strong statement in front of their home crowd in what will be their only home fixture of the first round.

Trinity will be led by Shan Althaf, supported by vice-captains Udan Wijekoon and Nisith Kumarasinghe. Key players Ammar Manzil, Hamza Abdeen, Abdul Malik and Evin Jayasena are expected to play pivotal roles.

Having already secured the knockout title earlier this season, Trinity will be determined to carry that momentum into the league and stamp their authority from the outset.

Lumbini promoted to the top division will need to settle in quickly if they are to challenge the champions.

Meanwhile, in another other fixture, Kingswood College host Zahira College at Nittawela.
