Udarsha Nimsara cracked a quick-fire 136 in 74 balls inclusive of 12 boundaries and ten towering sixes to help Thurstan College make a recovery against Sri Sumangala College Panadura on day one of their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter at Bandaragama.
Udarsha along with Hirushan Dias shared a massive partnership of 196 runs for the fifth wicket when Thurstan were struggling on 77 for 4 to help them end with a score of 284.
Sri Sumangala in their turn was struggling on 77 for 8.
An unbeaten 122 with 15 boundaries and a six by Rajith Navodya who shared two valuable partnerships of 68 runs for the third wicket with Chandupa Abeysinghe and 74 runs for the fourth wicket with Ranidu Amarasinghe helped Maliyadeva College taking first lease of the wicket to make 242 for 4 against Ananda College when bad light stopped play on day one at Kurunegala.
St John’s College Jaffna was on top against Piliyandala Central at the end of the first day’s play in the match played at Jaffna.
