TVS Lanka win MCA maiden title in smooth run



A quick-fire half century from Nadeesh Yasiru (58 runs in 35) and an  impressive spell of fast bowling by Ruchira Koshitha (3 for 17) steered TVS Lanka to their maiden MCA cricket title when they comprehensively beat John Keells Group by 42 runs and took the DPGC Challenge Trophy in the MCA “E” division T20 League tournament.

The final was played on Sunday, December 21, at the MCA ground in Colombo and TVS Lanka made 164 for 7 in 20 overs and restricted their rivals to 122 for 7 in 20 overs. TVS Lanka remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, winning all their six matches in the league stage and all three matches in the knock-out stage including the final. 

Match Referee Sena Nandiweera named TVS Lanka’s all rounder Ruchira Koshitha as the Man of the Final. 

Other awards based on performances in the league stage went to Kaveesha Piyumal (best bowler) and Pasindu Ratnayake (best batter), both from Slim Pharmaceuticals. Ayana Siriwardena from TVS Lanka was adjudged the Man of the Series.
