St Benedict’s College dominated proceedings on day one against St Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa in their three day Under 19 Division 1 Tier B quarter final encounter played at Campbell Park.
Ayesh Gajanayake shone with a six wicket haul to help St Benedict’s bowl out the Vazians for 142 runs and an unbeaten half ton by Sithum Hasaranga who shared an unbroken stand of 58 runs for the eighth wicket with Manikya Deshapriya helped them end the day on 178 for 7.
Meanwhile Christ King College Ja-Ela helped by a knock of 118 by Avishka Nirmal taking first lease of the wicket made a formidable score of 319 runs against St Thomas’ College Matale who ended day one on 11 for 0 in their Under 19 Division 2 Tier B quarter final encounter played at the Dambulla Stadium.
