Sri Lanka women level series over Bangladesh



An all-round performance by skipper Chamari Athapaththu supported by Harshitha Samarawickrama and Hansima Karunaratne helped Sri Lanka to record a comfortable four wicket win over host Bangladesh in their second ODI women’s encounter at Rajshahi yesterday.

Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana held on before being dismissed for 58 and her dismissal had the home team lose wickets at regular intervals before being bowled out for 165.

In pursuit of the target, Athapaththu lead the way with a 39 ball knock of 40 and the icing on the cake was put by the fourth wicket pair of Samarawickrama (50) and Karunaratne (40) as the pair shared a valuable 79 runs to help Sri Lanka race to the target and level the three match series 1-1.
