Sri Lanka U-19 women lose

The Australia women’s Under 19 team scraped through with a one wicket win over Sri Lanka in the last match of the tri-series at the Ian Healy Stadium in Brisbane.

The win gave them an unbeaten run in the series to come out on top which also featured the England Under-19 women.

The home team’s win came on the back of a knock of 58 runs made by Indira Pameli.

Right arm spinner Aseni Thalagune was the most successful bowler who ended with figures of 5 for 42.

Earlier the Sri Lanka women taking first lease of the wicket had openers Sanjana Kavindu and Vimoksha Balasuriya give them a solid start of 49 runs but they lost wickets at regular intervals and slid to 114 for 6 before the last pair of Chamodi Herath and Yeshali Jithara helped them recover with a 32 runs stand to end with a score of 174.

The three teams will contest a T20 Tri-Series from April 11 to 18.
