Sri Lanka Athletics election on March 12

The long-delayed election of Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA), which should have been held a year ago, will be on March 12 at 10.00 am at the Duncan White Auditorium of the Ministry of Sports. 

The election committee, chaired by retired appeal court judge Lalith Udaya Jayasooriya, has made arrangements to conduct the poll. A total of 21 candidates are contesting 15 positions, while the post of Assistant Treasurer has already been filled uncontested by Shanthalal de Silva.

The contest for the presidency is expected to draw significant attention with Olympian and past SLA President Sunil Gunawardena in the fray alongside Bimal Wijayasinghe.
