Sharujan, Janith, Kavija help Colombo make 434/9

Colombo, thanks to Sharujan Shanmuganathan, Janith Liyanage and Kavija Gamage, continued their domination against Kandy on day two of the National Super League cricket encounter played at Dambulla.

Despite Kandy making an early breakthrough in the morning session with the wicket of Janith Liyanage they were made to work hard from there on.

Liyanage was able to add only four more runs making 134 and put on a 232 runs stand for the fifth wicket with Shanmuganathan.

Shanmuganathan found another reliable partner in young Kavija Gamage with whom he added 131 runs for the sixth wicket and the separation of the pair with Kavija’s dismissal saw them lose wickets.

Shanmuganathan made 145 with 10 fours and a six.

A fine knock of 133 inclusive of 12 boundaries and a six by Lasith Croospulle and half tons by skipper Dhananjaya de Silva, Vishad Randika and Anjala Bandara helped Dambulla to end day two in a strong position against Galle in another match of the same tournament played at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

The matches will be continued today.
