The inter-club rugby Sevens will kick-off its first leg at Longden Place today minus Kandy SC with nine teams in the fray and expected to offer top class fast open play.
The nine men’s teams have been drawn into three competitive pools.
In addition to the men’s tournament, the women’s segment will have the participation of teams from Army, Navy and Air Force highlighting the continued growth of women’s rugby Sevens in the country.
There will also be eight provincial women’s teams competing in another segment.
The second leg of the tournament will take place a week later on March 28 and 29 at the Race Course ground before the Asian Sevens.
Men’s segment:
Group A- Havelock SC, Police SC, Army SC
Group B- CH and FC, UUDS Dubai, Sri Lions
Group C-CR and FC, Air Force SC, Navy SC
Women’s segment:
Air Force SC, Army SC, Navy SC
Women’s Provincial segment:
Uva Tigers, North Western Blacks, Uva Knights, North Central Eagles, Central Gladiators, Western Warriors and North Western Stallions
