SLSMA goes from strength to strength

Veteran football personality Irshard Haq has been appointed as the president of the Sri Lanka Soccer Masters Association (SLSMA) for the year 2026/2027 at its Annual General Meeting held at Sithumina Reception Hall, Kirulapone, Colombo 06.

Founded in 1995, the Sri Lanka Soccer Masters Association has remained a pillar of strength for former national footballers who have brought honour to the country. 

The association, which was spearheaded by Tilak Peiris, was born out of compassion after a former Sri Lankan football player was found struggling without support. Since its inception, SLSMA has ensured the welfare of veteran national football players by offering them medical, financial and social assistance. 

Tilak Peiris, who served as Chairman for 27 years, has been widely acknowledged for his unwavering commitment and personal contributions to sustaining the organisation. 

Today, SLSMA continues to serve the football community of the country, playing a vital role in uplifting legends of the game. With the appointment of Irshard Haq the SLSMA is expected to further strengthen its mission and continue its service to the football community in Sri Lanka. (BM)
