Sir John Tarbat Junior Inaugural Inter-Schools 2Km Road Relay C’ship 2025

Rajawella Hindu National School, Digana, and C.W.W. Kannangara Central College, Matugama, emerged as the boys’ and girls’ champions respectively at the Sir John Tarbat Junior Inaugural Inter-Schools 2Km Road Relay Championship 2025, held in Embilipitiya.

The event was organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association (SLSAA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. Fifteen schools competed in the boys’ category, while five schools participated in the girls’ event.

Rajawella Hindu National School secured the boys’ title with a winning time of 25 minutes and 29 seconds, while C.W.W. Kannangara Central College completed the girls’ race in 32 minutes and 2 seconds to claim victory.

In the boys’ category, Pathadumbara Central College finished second with a time of 26:33, and Vidyaloka College, Galle, came in third, clocking 26:48. Meanwhile, in the girls’ event, President’s College, Ambagasdowa, finished second in 33.5 minutes, and Nilmala Maria Balika Vidyalaya, Thudalla, took third place with a time of 35.5 minutes.

Meanwhile, on the second day (2nd) of the ongoing 54th Ritzbury Sir John Tarbat Junior Athletic Championship 2025, held at the Mahaweli Sports Complex, Embilipitiya, a close contest emerged for the boys’ overall championship, with Bakamuna Mahasen MV (51 points) leading slightly ahead of St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena (35 points), and Maris Stella College, Negombo (33 points).

In the girls’ division, Lyceum International School, Wattala, led the standings with 45 points, followed by Sujatha Balika Vidyalaya, Matara, in second place with 25 points.

The athletes managed to set five new meet records yesterday, the second day of the championship. The athletic championship concludes today.
