Premier Hockey League enters decisive phase

The second edition of the Sri Lanka Premier Hockey League (PHL Sri Lanka 2025), organised by the Next Gen Hockey Development Society, officially commenced at the Read Avenue Hockey Tuff, Colombo with matches scheduled to continue until November 29.

Featuring a total of 36 preliminary round matches, the tournament promises intense competition among some of Sri Lanka’s top hockey teams. 

The tournament kicked off with a gripping encounter between the Air Force Sports Club and the Colombo Royal Hockey Club, while today’s second match will see Army Sports Club facing off against the Wennappuwa Hockey Club.

A total of nine elite hockey teams are competing in this edition with Army Sports Club, Navy Sports Club, Air Force Sports Club, Police Sports Club, Burgher Recreation Club, Royal Hockey Club, CR and FC, Wennappuwa Hockey Club and CH and FC in the fray.

This year, the tournament features 30 international-level foreign hockey players, representing eight of the participating teams, adding a new dimension of competitive excellence and global exposure to the league.
