The 24th Inter Plantation Rugby Sevens, organised by the Dickoya Maskeliya Cricket Club will take place on April 4 at the Darawela ground, with the first kick-off scheduled for 9 am.

This year’s competition will feature eight teams divided into two groups, ensuring a competitive and engaging group stage.

The format will have the top two teams from each pool progressing to the Cup semi-finals, keeping their hopes alive for the title.

Teams finishing outside the top two will continue to battle in the Plate segment. The third-placed teams will compete for the Bowl title while the fourth-placed sides will contest the Shield final.

Beyond the on-field excitement the Sevens highlights the immense contribution of plantation communities to Sri Lanka rugby.

Over the years, these regions have produced talented players who have gone on to represent the country with distinction.

Pool A – Malwatte, Balangoda, Elpitiya, Hatton

Pool B – Thalawakelle, Kelani Valley, Kotagala, Maskeliya
