Pakistan Minister leaves Premadasa Stadium amid collapse

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi who is also the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board left the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo in haste as his team collapsed in their run chase against India in the group stage match of the T20 World Cup on Sunday night, the international media reported.

He left the venue at the fall of the fifth Pakistani wicket.

Pakistan were in pursuit of a 176 target and lost what was the cream of their batting in the first six power play overs with four wickets tumbling for just 34 runs on the board.

The match was an eventual anti-climax  and totally one-sided in absolute contrast to the hype, the touted importance of the match, the controversy and the circumstances that led to Pakistan making a U-turn on their decision to boycott the fixture.

Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 114 in the 18th over unable to even bat the full 20 overs losing by 61 runs which was one of their worst defeats to India.

Overall the contest between the two countries has become terribly lopsided with India winning 14 matches and Pakistan winning just three in the 17 matches since 2007.

Of the nine matches played between the two countries in T20 World Cups, India have won eight.
