The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) will stage its prestigious 88th Club Championship continuing a tradition that ranks among Sri Lanka’s most anticipated amateur golf events.
The championship will feature both men’s and women’s divisions, drawing a strong field of over 100 competitors on February 28 and March 1 at their club course.
The competition begins on Friday with the Graeme Sinclair event, setting the stage for a thrilling championship weekend. Day one will also include the annual Gold Medal event, adding further prestige and competitive intensity to the opening round. With elite amateurs and seasoned club players in action, spectators can expect tight scoring and compelling matchups throughout.
The club championship carries a proud legacy dating back to 1933, when MH Lushington captured the inaugural men’s title. Since then, generations of golfers have etched their names into the club’s distinguished history.
Suhayb Sangani and Anouk Chitty are the defending club champions from the men’s and women’s segments.
