Newcomers Lyceum send Kingswood tumbling

Lyceum International School’s right arm spin and pace pair of Sadil Dias and Vidusha Wijeratne sent Kingswood College reeling on the first day of their three day Under 19 Division 2 Tier A semifinal encounter at Horana yesterday.

Sadil did the early damage when he bagged the top four wickets and Vidusha grabbed two wickets to have Kingswood struggling on 55 for 7. 

This was after Lyceum IS Wattala taking first lease of the wicket were bowled out for 134 runs. 

But the story of the day was that Lyceum which was admitted to playing mainstream First X1 inter school cricket only recently, sent Kingswood a school with over a hundred years of cricket history tumbling down the mountain.

Lyceum’s allrounder Sandil Dias led from the front as he made a top score of 43 and then hit back to claim four wickets as Kingswood’s frontline batters could not come to grips with spin bowling.

The match will be continued today.
