Mercantile hockey elects office-bearers at 70th AGM

The Mercantile Hockey Association marked a significant milestone with the successful hosting of its 70th Annual General Meeting last month at the Burgher Recreation Club (BRC) in Colombo.

Legendary and veteran sportsman Dennis de Rosayro (Life Member, MHA) presided as pro term Chairman and while sharing his visionary leadership thoughts with the attendees at the AGM, announced that Ajith de Silva of Brown & Company PLC was elected as the President of the Mercantile Hockey Association for the term 2026–2027.

De Silva succeeds Vengadasalam Balagobi of Deloitte Sri Lanka, who served three consecutive terms from September 2022 to March 2026.

Established as one of the oldest sporting associations in Sri Lanka, the Mercantile Hockey Association has played a pivotal role in sustaining and promoting the game of hockey in the country for over seven decades.
