Lyceum set for historic feat

Lyceum IS Wattala was in the box seat against Vidyartha College Kandy when play ended on day two in their Division 2 Tier A quarter final encounter played at Radella giving the International School a historic occasion to look forward to.

Lyceum had Vidyartha struggling for survival to avoid an innings defeat after the Kandy team in reply to Lyceum’s formidable score of 351 was bundled out for a meager 68 runs.

Made to follow on and left with the daunting task of erasing a deficit of 283 runs, Vidyartha left the field on the second day reeling on 113 for 7.

There was a close tussle in the quarter final match between Dharmapala MV Pannipitiya and Kingswood College at Kosgama. 

Dharmapala, resuming from their overnight score of 297 for 8 helped by an unbeaten knock of 150 by Nisalitha Sandiv, made 385 and Kingswood in their turn helped by half tons from skipper Kavija Gamage, Saniru Dahanayake and Yeshan Abeykoon had them make a bold reply of 274 for 6.

In the other match, Dharmasoka MV Ambalangoda have already taken a first inning lead over Maris Stella College Thimbirigaskatuwa in another quarter final encounter of the same tournament played at Ananda Mawatha in Colombo.

The matches will be continued today.
