It was a historic moment for Lyceum International School Wattala as they won the Under 19 Division Two Tier A inter-school cricket championship by pulling off a comfortable first innings win over Taxila Central Horana in the final at the Army ground at Kosgama yesterday that made them the first International School in the island to win a cricket title.
Lyceum’s cricketers were almost assured of the title when play ended the second day having already succeeded in taking a first innings lead.
The final day had them hitting the last nail in the coffin thanks to Mihisara Oshan who was unfortunate to miss out on a hundred being dismissed for 99.
But Mihisara along with Thisanga Semith who made 68 saw them through as the pair put on a valuable 114 runs for the fifth wicket at a stage they were struggling on 14 for 4 in the second innings.
