Joes opener slams 175, Kegalle Marian smashes 200

St Joseph’s College opener Aveesha Samash slammed a quick-fire 159 ball knock of 175 inclusive of 26 boundaries and four sixes to help his side amass a score of 408 for 5 declared against Mahinda College on day one of their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Darley Road. 

In another match a double ton in 156 balls with 29 boundaries and two sixes by Shehara Samarasinghe for St Mary’s College Kegalle against Nalanda Boys School Minuwangoda was the highlight of the first day’s play in the match played at Kegalle.  Shehara’s knock saw the Marians taking first lease of the wicket making a mammoth score of 404 for 9 declared.
