Jayanthan, Anusara shines on day one

23rd Battle of Sri Jayawardenapura

Jayanthan Abinash and Anusara Fernando shone for St. John’s College Nugegoda who ended with a score of 258 for 8 day one of the 23rd Battle of Sri Jayewardenepura big match against traditional rivals Ananda Sastralaya Kotte played at P. Sara Stadium.

Jayanthan, who remained unbeaten on 98 inclusive of nine boundaries, came to the rescue of St. John’s when they were struggling on 40 for 4 as he associated in two valuable partnerships.

The first was for 96 runs for the fifth wicket with Fernando who made 70 with 13 boundaries and the other of 95 runs for the sixth wicket with Lakshitha Lakindu who chipped in with 38 before bad light put a stoppage. The match will be continued tomorrow.
