Colombo is set to host the internationally recognised IRONMAN® 70.3 Colombo from February 19 to 22 marking Sri Lanka’s premier endurance sports event and boosting the city’s profile as a global sports and lifestyle destination.

The event’s print media sponsor is Wijeya Newspapers’ Daily Mirror.

The launch in Colombo brought together national leaders, city officials, international partners and media representatives under the ActiveColombo initiative, promoting physical activity, wellness and sustainable urban living.

The race weekend will feature multiple highlights: the KAYA Colombo – Active Lifestyle & International Expo from 19–21 February, IRONKIDS Colombo on 21 February for children aged 3–14 and the main IRONMAN® 70.3 triathlon—swimming, cycling and running on February 22.

Over 1000 athletes from more than 45 countries are expected, many visiting Sri Lanka for the first time. The event is anticipated to generate significant economic impact via sports tourism, with participants staying longer and spending more than average tourists, while providing broad global media exposure for Colombo and Sri Lanka.

Being part of the worldwide IRONMAN® circuit, the event positions Colombo alongside top international hosts, strengthening its reputation as a premier endurance sports venue in South Asia.

Organised by Serendib Multisports, the event is supported by key public and private partners, including Colombo Port City, Shangri-La Colombo, Colombo Municipal Council, tourism and hospitality providers, healthcare partners, cycling and lifestyle brands and national media organisations.

Through IRONMAN® 70.3 Colombo and the ActiveColombo initiative, the city aims to become a healthier, more active, and globally connected destination, while promoting Sri Lanka as a competitive location for international sports tourism.
