Air Force SC will meet Police SC in what is being called the Plate final of the inter club rugby league at Ratmalana with kick-off scheduled for 4 pm.

Air Force, who showed impressive form in the earlier stages of the Plate competition, will be eager to overturn their recent 36-12 defeat to Police.

In that encounter, the Air Force SC rested nearly a dozen frontline players, a move that ultimately cost them momentum.

With a full-strength squad expected to return, they will bank on the experience and attacking flair of Shanka Werella, Gayantha Iddamalgoda, Ishara Madushan and Shamika Kaushan to spearhead their challenge.

Police SC, however, will take the field brimming with confidence after last week’s commanding display. Their structured forward play and will once again look to Mohan Wimalaratne, Deshan Fernando and Yohan Peiris to deliver under pressure. The contest is likely to hinge on discipline and territorial control in what promises to be a bruising forward battle.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Navy SC will host Sri Lions Sports Club in a crucial playoff to determine the eighth and final entrant for the Clifford Cup knockout tournament, which kicks off later this month. Sri Lions finished ninth in the league standings, just behind Navy, setting the stage for a decisive showdown.
