96th Battle of the Maroons Ananda’s Nethula shines with unbeaten 150

Opener Nethiula Edirimanne shone for Ananda College on day one with a century against traditional rivals Nalanda College in their 96th Battle of the Maroons match played at the SSC ground yesterday.

Nethula’s knock of an unbeaten 150 had 14 boundaries and a six and he was involved in three fruitful partnerships, first an opening wicket of 67 runs with Damindu Sellaperuma then 61 runs for the fourth wicket with Sharada Jayaratne and 126 runs for the fifth wicket with Ovin Perera.

Ananda reached a formidable score of 325 for 5.
