Two records tumble in the morning session

The opening day’s proceedings of the 44th Milo All Island Age Group Aquatics Sports Championships which got underway at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium swimming pool saw two new records being established with both in the boy’s events.

The two records were set in the morning session with the first being in the Boys U19 1500 LC meter freestyle event where B. Dilanka Shehan of Nalanda set a new timing of 17.15.03 to eclipse the existing record of 18.18.22 set by Pasindu de Silva in 2013.

A. Bihandu Hansana of Sri Devananda MV Ambalangoda shattered a record that stood for 16 years in Boys U11 100 LC meter breaststroke event with a new timing of 1.27.30 to erase the record of 1.30.64 set by C. Malimbada in 2001.

The championship was in progress with most of the heats being conducted in where 7211 events, both in the heats and finals that has been scheduled to be completed during the four day event.
