Yevan David another leap to racing stardom

Sri Lanka’s most acclaimed young racing driver Yevan David who has turned into an overnight sensation arrived in the country on Thursday after winning the Rookie Championship and the runner-up titles at the Euro Formula Open Championship in Monza, Italy

David at the age of 18 is now set to race in the Formula 3 Championship in 2026 that will make him the first racing driver from Sri Lanka to aspire and be on the road to the ultimate professional Formula One showpiece.

He was the Euro Formula Open vice-champion in 2025 and already a household name and according to racing experts the teenager is on course to graduate into the country’s first Formula One exponent.

He was given a grand welcome by his family members and well-wishers when he arrived after a fine showing at the European racing circuit.
