Western and Northern boxers adjudged the best

Best Female Boxer S. Jasmitha and Best Male Boxer G.H. Thissaarachchi

G.H. Thissaarachchi of the Western Province and S. Jasmitha of the Northern Province were adjudged as the Best Male and Best Female Boxers at the 49th National Sports Festival (NSF) Inter-Province Boxing Meet 2025 held in Matara.

Thissaaarachchi was awarded the title for his outstanding performance in the 46-48Kg category while S. Jasmitha was honored with the title for her performance in the 60-70Kg category. The Meet organized by the Ministry of Sports and the Department of Sports Development had the participation of many national-level male and female boxers. Western Province boxers displayed remarkable skills to win both the men’s and women’s inter-province boxing championships. The Western Province men’s team secured the championship with four gold medals, one silver and four bronze medals while the women’s team clinched the women’s championship with five gold medals, two silvers and four bronze medals. In the men’s division, Central Province became runners-up while Southern Province was placed third. In the women’s division, Southern Province secured the runners-up position and Northern Province claimed third place marking a significant achievement.
