The preliminary round of the Munchee Super League Volleyball Championship 2025—postponed earlier due to adverse weather—will now be held from December 12 to 16 at the Waupitiwala Sports Complex, the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB) announced.
The matches were originally scheduled for December 1–5. However, following requests from participating teams affected by last week’s severe weather, SLVB decided to delay the tournament by one week. According to the SLVB Competition Committee, eight men’s teams and seven women’s teams that excelled at national level last year will compete this season.
The men’s tournament will open on December 12 with a match between the Ports Authority and Air Force, while the women’s tournament will begin with Hirdaramani meeting Air Force.
Men’s teams: Air Force, Army, Navy, Police, Ceylon Electricity Board, Ports Authority, National Youth Services Council and University.
Women’s teams: Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, MAS Casualline, Omega Line and Hirdaramani.
Cross matches and third-place playoffs are scheduled for December 16.
Dates for the men’s and women’s finals have not yet been announced. Earlier, the finals were expected to take place in January 2026 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.
According to the organisers, the title-winning men’s and women’s teams will receive Rs. 150,000 each, runners-up Rs. 100,000 each and third-place teams Rs. 50,000 each.
