Two uncapped fast bowlers picked for Bangladesh ODI series

Sri Lankan selectors have picked two uncapped fast bowlers, Shiran Fernando and Binura Fernando, for the forthcoming ODI series against Bangladesh.

Binura has previously played two T20Is for Sri Lanka but is yet to feature in an ODI.

According to sources close to the sports ministry, approval is being sought to send 18 players for the three-match ODI series.

Shiran, who turned 28 on Tuesday, plays for the Tamil Union Club.

The right-arm medium pacer recently tested positive COVID-19 without experiencing major symptoms and is now quarantined in a city hotel.

He is scheduled to be discharged from the hotel on May 8.

The selectors have picked Kusal Janith Perera to captain the team on this tour, with the name of Dasun Shanaka too in contention.
