Two Sri Lanka teams qualify for World Meet

Two relay teams from Sri Lanka have qualified for the seventh IAAF World Athletic Relay Championships 2025, which will be held on May 10 and 11 at the Guangzhou Guangdong Olympic Stadium in China.

Sri Lanka will participate in the 4X400m Men’s Team event and the 4X400m Mixed Team event, Sri Lanka Athletic (SLA) Secretary Saman Gunawardana told the Daily Mirror yesterday.

The teams in the first 32 positions according to the times produced within the qualifying period (January 1, 2024 to April 13, 2025) become eligible for the World Relays taking place on the 8 Guangzhou

Last time, two teams from Sri Lanka qualified for the Bahamas World Athletic Relay Championship in 2024 but the participation was cancelled by the SLA due to visa issues.
