Thomians outsmart Wesley for maiden hockey titles

S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia achieved a remarkable double by winning both the Under 16 and Under 20 matches in the inaugural Wesley-Thomian Hockey Encounter 2025 at the Read Avenue Hockey Turf in Colombo.

The Wesley-Thomian Hockey Encounter aims to popularize hockey among school athletes. In addition, S. Thomas’ College plans to organize annual hockey tournaments between Colombo and Kandy schools in the future to further develop the sport.

In the Under 16 match for the “C.T. Rodrigo Shield,” S. Thomas emerged victorious with a 3-0 win and in the Under 20 game played for the “Rev Marc Billimoria Challenge Trophy,” the Thomians secured a convincing 7-0 victory.

Players and parents praised Rakesh Rajendra, MIC Hockey at S. Thomas College, for his significant contributions toward advancing hockey in the school.
