Thomians and HFC win U-20 hockey titles

St.Thomas College Boys team

St. Thomas’ College, Matale and Holy Family Convent (HFC), Wennappuwa clinched the Boys’ and Girls’ titles respectively at the All-Island Inter-Schools Under-20 Hockey Tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association and held at the Edward Stadium and Nandimithra Stadium in Matale.

In the Boys’ Tournament, Royal College, Colombo emerged runnersup while St. Joseph’s College, Colombo secured third place.

In the Boys’ Tournament final, St. Thomas’ defeated Royal 4-0.

In the Girls’ Tournament final, HFC defeated Sri Sangamitta Girls’ College, Matale 3-1.

The third place of the Girls’ Tournament went to President’s Girls’ College, Nawala.

Meanwhile, Trinity College won the Ranjeewa Kulatunga Memorial Trophy for the Most Disciplined Boys’ Team in this year’s tournament while Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo won the Ranjeewa Kulatunga Memorial Trophy for the most disciplined Girls’ Team.

In the Boys’ Tournament semi finals, St. Thomas’ defeated Trinity and Royal defeated St. Joseph’s to qualify for the final.

Holy Family convent Girls team

In the Girls’ Tournament semi finals, HFC defeated President’s Girls’ College and Sangamitta Girls’ College defeated Visakha.

Dharmadutha College, Badulla and Vidyartha College jointly won the Bowl Championship in the Boys’ Tournament while Kingswood College and St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa jointly won the Shield Championship.

Panadura Girls’ College took the Bowl Championship in the Girls’ Tournament while St. Anthony’s Girls’ College, Kandy emerged runners-up.

Southlands College, Galle won the Shield Championship in the Girls’ Tournament.
