Sri Lankan basketball siblings Methika and Binuthi Jayasinghe have been selected for the Prestigious NBA Basketball School Camp in Lebanon from September 1 to 5 highlighting two of the country’s brightest young prospects and the nation’s rise on the international stage.

Binuthi previously served as captain of the Sri Lanka Under-16 Youth team at the FIBA Asian Qualifiers while Methika led the Sri Lanka Under-18 Youth team at the FIBA Asian Qualifiers.

Their consistent leadership at international level has made them two of the most respected young athletes in the country.

Adding to their remarkable achievements, Methika and Binuthi have been awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP) titles in every Division A tournament they have participated in, regardless of age category.

Their dominance on the court has created a significant gap between them and their peers, underlining their exceptional status in Sri Lankan basketball.

Methika, a standout leader at St. Joseph’s College, also captains the Under-19 Division A team. Known for his disciplined approach, tactical awareness and leadership on and off the court, he has quickly become one of the most admired young male players in Sri Lanka.

His younger sister, Binuthi, representing Holy Family Convent, Colombo 4, has shown equally remarkable promise. Despite being selected for the Under-17 level, she already competes with the Under-19 Division A team, proving her ability to excel beyond her age group with outstanding vision, determination and skill.

Conducted under the official NBA curriculum, the programme combines world-class basketball training with personal development, focusing on key aspects such as footwork, ball handling, teamwork and resilience. This opportunity provides Methika and Binuthi with access to international coaches and elite-level training alongside some of the best young players in the region.

Methika continues to develop as a leader within Sri Lanka’s youth basketball, while for Binuthi, the Camp serves as valuable preparation ahead of her selection to represent Sri Lanka at the third Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, a major milestone in her young career.

Selected athletes will advance to represent the NBA Basketball School in the Global Tournament in Abu Dhabi scheduled for October 1 to 5, 2025. Should they be chosen, Methika and Binuthi will carry Sri Lanka’s flag on one of the world’s most competitive youth basketball stages, further solidifying their status as top-tier talents with international potential.
